Frac gel
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001554
A viscous fluid, typically water-based with polymer additives, used as the primary carrier fluid in hydraulic fracturing operations. Its high viscosity is designed to transport proppant into the created fractures and minimize fluid loss into the formation. Common gelling agents include guar gum and its derivatives.
