Glycol absorber
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001712
A tall, vertical pressure vessel, also called a contactor, used in a glycol dehydration unit to remove water vapor from a natural gas stream. Wet gas enters the bottom of the vessel and flows upward, making contact with lean, water-free glycol that is pumped into the top and flows downward over trays or structured packing. The hygroscopic glycol absorbs water from the gas, which then exits the top of the vessel as dry gas.
