Glycol dehydrator
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001713
A processing system that removes water vapor from natural gas to meet pipeline quality specifications and prevent hydrate formation or corrosion. The unit circulates a liquid desiccant, most commonly triethylene glycol (TEG), which absorbs water from the gas in a contactor vessel. The water-rich glycol is then heated in a reboiler to drive off the water before being cooled and recirculated back to the contactor.
