Graben
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001724
A down-dropped block of the Earth's crust bounded by two parallel normal faults. It forms when tensional forces pull the crust apart, causing the central block to subside relative to the flanking blocks. Grabens are common features in rift basins and can create structural traps for hydrocarbon accumulation.
