Granular lost-circulation material

A class of lost-circulation material composed of hard, angular or blocky particles, such as nut shell, calcium carbonate, graphite or ground rubber, that bridge across a thief zone or fracture and build a plug. The particle size distribution is matched to the opening width, from fine to coarse grades. Mica and cellophane flakes and wood or cellulose fibres are classed separately, as flake and fibrous materials.
