Lost Circulation Material, a drilling fluid additive used to seal off permeable formations or fractures that are causing drilling fluid to be lost into the subsurface. These materials can be fibrous, flaky, or granular, and they are mixed into the drilling mud. Common LCMs include nut shells, mica, and cellulose fibers.
