Granular LCM
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001727
A lost-circulation material made of rigid, irregular particles that bridge and plug the pores or fractures through which drilling fluid is escaping. Examples are ground walnut or other nut shell, sized calcium carbonate, graphite and ground rubber, with the particle size chosen to match the opening width. Mica and cellophane are flake materials and cellulose or polypropylene strands are fibrous, so they form separate categories.
