Flake lost-circulation material
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001447
A category of additives with a flat, flaky shape used to combat the loss of drilling fluid into the formation. Common examples include mica, shredded cellophane, and specially manufactured polymer flakes that are added to the active mud system. These materials bridge across the openings of fractures or highly permeable zones, creating a seal that prevents further fluid loss.
