Hardfacing
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001789
A metallurgical process that applies a wear-resistant material to the surface of a component, extending its service life in abrasive or erosive environments. This is achieved by welding or thermal spraying a layer of harder material onto a softer base metal. Tungsten carbide is a common material used for hardfacing in oilfield applications.
