Hot lime

Calcium oxide (CaO), a highly reactive chemical used in drilling fluids to treat carbon dioxide contamination and remove dissolved hydrogen sulfide. It reacts with water to form calcium hydroxide, which then neutralizes acidic gases. Hot lime is typically added in powdered form to the active mud system.
