A set of well conditions severe enough to damage metal parts, rubber seals, mud chemicals, electronics and tools, such as very high pressure or temperature, or corrosive fluids like H2S and CO2. Operating there calls for special materials, equipment ratings and procedures. API technical guidance treats a well as high-pressure high-temperature when equipment must be rated above 15,000 psi or 350 degrees Fahrenheit (177 degrees Celsius).
