Injection pump
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001991
A high-pressure positive displacement or centrifugal pump at the surface that injects liquid into a well, for example water for waterflooding or chemical solutions for treatments. It draws fluid from storage tanks and raises its pressure above the downhole pressure it must overcome, with discharge pressure and rate set by the application, from hundreds to several thousand psi. Gas for gas lift or gas injection is delivered by compressors rather than pumps.
