Kill pump

A high-pressure, high-volume pump used to inject heavy drilling fluid, or 'kill fluid,' into a wellbore to control a well kick or blowout. It provides the necessary pressure to overcome formation pressure and stop the uncontrolled flow of formation fluids to the surface. Kill pumps are a standard safety feature on drilling rigs and workover units.
