Kill-weight mud
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002100
A drilling fluid specifically weighted to a density that can control formation pressures and prevent kicks or blowouts during well control operations. This mud is prepared by adding weighting agents, such as barite, to increase its hydrostatic pressure. The required density is determined by the maximum anticipated formation pressure.
