Kill-weight fluid
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002099
A drilling fluid with a sufficiently high density to overcome the pressure exerted by formation fluids and prevent an uncontrolled influx into the wellbore. This fluid is pumped into the well during a well control operation to regain hydrostatic balance. Its density is calculated based on the formation pressure and wellbore geometry.
