Intermediate casing

A string of steel pipe set and cemented in a wellbore after the surface casing but before the production casing. It isolates unstable formations, protects freshwater aquifers, and provides a stable conduit for drilling to deeper targets. The setting depth of intermediate casing is determined by formation pressures and wellbore stability requirements.
