Kirchhoff migration
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002104
A seismic imaging technique that reconstructs subsurface reflectors by summing seismic amplitudes along diffraction curves. It applies the Kirchhoff integral solution to the wave equation, mapping recorded seismic data from the surface to their true subsurface positions. This method is computationally intensive but can handle complex geological structures, producing images with high resolution.
