Lubricator

A pressure-containing device installed on top of a wellhead to allow tools or equipment to be run into or retrieved from a live well under pressure. It consists of a series of flanged sections that can be assembled to accommodate the length of the tool string. The lubricator is equipped with a stuffing box or grease injection system to seal around the wireline or coiled tubing, preventing well fluids from escaping to the atmosphere.
