Marsh funnel
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002287
A simple, cone-shaped device used to measure the relative viscosity of drilling fluid by timing how long it takes for a specific volume of mud to flow through a small orifice at the bottom. The funnel has a capacity of 1500 ml and the efflux time for 946 ml (one quart) is recorded in seconds. This measurement provides a quick, field-based indication of mud consistency.
