Mis tie
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002386
The difference in measured values, such as two-way travel time or depth, at the intersection point of two or more geophysical survey lines. This discrepancy arises from factors like inconsistent survey datums, positioning errors, variations in processing parameters, or inaccuracies in the velocity model used for depth conversion. Mis-tie analysis is a quality control step where adjustments are made to create a consistent dataset; residual mis-ties after correction are quantified, with values of a few milliseconds being acceptable for 3D seismic data.
