Mudding up
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002467
To convert the fluid in the active circulating system to a conventional drilling mud, usually from clear water or brine. This process involves adding clays like bentonite, polymers, and other additives to build viscosity and density for hole cleaning and pressure control. Mudding up is performed after drilling the surface hole section and before drilling into zones that require specific mud properties.
