Multiwell pad
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002493
A single, prepared surface location from which multiple directional or horizontal wells are drilled to access different parts of a reservoir. This approach concentrates drilling and production infrastructure, reducing the overall surface footprint, environmental impact, and operational costs compared to drilling each well from a separate location. Pads in unconventional plays like shale formations may host anywhere from four to over twenty wells, all sharing surface facilities for processing and transport.
