Naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM)

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002514

Radioactive elements, such as radium, thorium, and uranium, that are present in the Earth's crust and can be brought to the surface with produced oil, gas, and water. These materials can accumulate in scales, sludges, and equipment, posing health and environmental risks. NORM concentrations are regulated by environmental agencies due to their potential hazards.
