Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004398
The external dimension across a cylindrical component, such as drill pipe, casing, or a downhole tool. This outer diameter (OD) measurement dictates whether an object can pass through restrictions like a previously set casing string or a blowout preventer. It is expressed in inches or millimeters and, along with wall thickness, defines the pipe's weight and strength specifications.
