Organophilic

Describing a substance that has an affinity for oil or organic compounds, meaning it readily mixes with or absorbs them. This property is exploited in drilling fluid additives, such as organophilic clays, which are treated to disperse in oil-based muds. It contrasts with hydrophilic, which describes an affinity for water.
