Oxide-closure model
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002666
A geochemical model that converts the relative elemental yields from a neutron spectroscopy log into absolute dry-weight element concentrations. It assumes that the measured elements occur as their common oxides, such as SiO2, CaO and Fe2O3, and that the oxide weight fractions add up to 100 percent, which fixes the normalization factor that the relative yields lack. The resulting concentrations are then converted into mineral fractions in a separate interpretation step.
