Partial penetration
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002707
A condition where a wellbore does not fully extend through the entire thickness of a productive reservoir layer, or only a portion of the layer is perforated. This incomplete penetration restricts the flow area, leading to an additional pressure drop near the wellbore. It is accounted for in well test analysis by a specific skin factor.
