Pressure-squared plot

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002928

A graphical analysis technique for gas well test data that plots the square of the bottomhole pressure (p²) against a time function, such as the logarithm of time. This transformation linearizes the gas flow equation for low to moderate pressure reservoirs, allowing the application of analytical methods originally developed for single-phase liquid flow. The slope of the resulting straight line is inversely proportional to the permeability-thickness product (kh), while its intercept is used to calculate the skin factor.
