Road box

A protective enclosure, usually made of steel or concrete, installed at ground level over a buried valve or other subsurface equipment in a pipeline system. It provides access for operation, maintenance, and inspection while protecting the components from traffic and environmental damage. Road boxes are designed to withstand vehicular loads.
