Rugosity

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003212

The degree of irregularity or roughness of the borehole wall, which can be caused by drilling operations, formation instability, or geological features. High rugosity can lead to inaccurate log readings, especially for tools that measure properties close to the borehole. It is quantified by comparing caliper measurements to the bit size.
