Seismic refraction method
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003316
A geophysical technique that uses the travel times of refracted seismic waves to determine the depths and velocities of subsurface layers. It relies on waves that travel along the interface between two layers with contrasting velocities. This method is often used for shallow investigations, such as determining bedrock depth or mapping groundwater tables.
