Sludge

A thick, viscous, semi-solid mixture of oil, water, and solids that can form in crude oil storage tanks, pipelines, or during certain chemical treatments. Sludge can reduce storage capacity, impede flow, and cause operational problems. It often requires specialized cleaning or treatment for removal and disposal.
