Stage separation

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003581

A process that separates a well stream into gas and liquid phases at progressively lower pressures through a series of separators. This method recovers more liquid hydrocarbons than single-stage separation by reducing the solubility of gas in the oil as pressure decreases. The number of stages depends on the fluid characteristics and desired product specifications, typically ranging from two to four stages.
