Time-lapse
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003852
Describing a set of measurements taken over the same location at different points in time to monitor changes in a system. In reservoir characterization, time-lapse or 4D seismic surveys are repeated over a producing field to observe changes in fluid saturation, pressure, and temperature. The differences between the surveys reveal how fluids are moving within the reservoir, which informs decisions on infill drilling and enhanced oil recovery projects.
