Vugular porosity
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004070
The porosity within a rock created by the presence of vugs, which are relatively large, irregular cavities formed by dissolution. This type of porosity is particularly prevalent in carbonate rocks. While vugular porosity can contribute significantly to the total pore volume, its effectiveness for fluid flow depends on the degree to which the vugs are interconnected.
