Well shoot
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004494
A survey that measures the travel time of seismic energy from a surface source to a geophone placed at known depths within a wellbore. The procedure involves firing a seismic source, such as a vibrator or dynamite, at the surface near the wellhead and recording the direct arrival time at the downhole receiver. The resulting time-depth pairs are used to calibrate the sonic log and convert seismic reflection data from a time domain to a depth domain.
