Shoot a well
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003379
To detonate explosives within a wellbore to stimulate hydrocarbon production, typically by fracturing the surrounding rock formation. This process, also known as well shooting or explosive fracturing, creates new pathways for oil and gas to flow into the well. It is an older stimulation technique, largely replaced by hydraulic fracturing.
