Nest
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002520
A group of closely spaced geophones planted together at one station and wired so that their combined output is recorded as a single channel. Summing the elements reinforces energy arriving from below and attenuates noise that varies across the group, such as ground roll and wind noise. A nest is therefore a geophone array in the narrow sense, as distinct from a single geophone.
