Tight
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003840
Describing a reservoir rock with very low permeability, meaning fluids cannot flow through it easily under normal pressure gradients. Such formations, like tight gas sands or shales, hold substantial hydrocarbon resources but require stimulation techniques to produce economically. A common threshold for a tight gas sand is a permeability of less than 0.1 millidarcies (mD).
