Tight gas
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003842
Natural gas produced from low-permeability sandstone, limestone, or dolomite reservoirs that require stimulation techniques, such as hydraulic fracturing, to achieve economic production rates. These reservoirs have pore throats and permeability values significantly lower than conventional gas reservoirs. Permeability in tight gas reservoirs is typically less than 0.1 millidarcy.
