Continuous reservoir
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000833
A hydrocarbon accumulation that lacks a distinct gas-water or oil-water contact and is characterized by widespread, low-permeability rock with hydrocarbons distributed throughout. Unlike conventional reservoirs, these systems often rely on natural fractures or induced hydraulic fractures for economic production. Shale gas and tight oil plays are prime examples of continuous reservoirs.
