Factory acceptance test

A formal testing process conducted at the equipment manufacturer's facility to verify that a new piece of semiconductor manufacturing equipment meets its contractual specifications before shipment. The customer's engineers witness these tests, which cover hardware functionality, software integration, safety features, and performance metrics like throughput. Successful completion of the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) is a prerequisite for shipment and triggers a milestone payment, preceding the Site Acceptance Test (SAT) which occurs after installation.
