Ingot

Term · Semiconductors · MLC-T-SEM-000173

A large, cylindrical, single-crystal block of high-purity semiconductor material, most commonly silicon, grown using a method like the Czochralski or Float-Zone process. This monocrystalline structure serves as the raw material from which individual semiconductor wafers are sliced. The diameter of the ingot, such as 200 mm or 300 mm, determines the size of the wafers that will be produced from it for integrated circuit fabrication.
