The rate at which a semiconductor manufacturing tool or an entire fabrication facility processes wafers or produces finished devices over a given period. It is typically measured in wafers per hour or units per hour. Maximizing throughput is a primary goal in semiconductor manufacturing to increase production volume and reduce per-unit costs.
