Threshold voltage

Term · Semiconductors · MLC-T-SEM-000334

The minimum gate-to-source voltage required to create a conducting channel between the source and drain terminals of a metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET). Below this voltage, the transistor is in the cut-off region and acts as an open switch. For n-type MOSFETs, this voltage is positive, while for p-type MOSFETs, it is negative.
