A pre-manufactured component, often made of a different material, that is embedded into a 3D printed part during or after the printing process. These are used to add functionality, such as threaded holes for fasteners or electrical contacts, or to enhance mechanical properties in specific areas. Common inserts include nuts, bolts, and bushings.
