Mirror galvanometer
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000236
An electromechanical instrument that directs a laser beam by rotating a mirror with high precision and speed. In powder bed fusion systems, a pair of these devices, one for the X-axis and one for the Y-axis, work together to steer the laser across the powder bed to selectively melt the material according to the part's cross-sectional data. The performance of the galvanometer system, measured by its angular velocity and positioning accuracy, directly influences the build speed and detail resolution.
