Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000240

The manufacturing process of shaping a liquid or pliable raw material using a rigid frame known as a mold or die. Additive manufacturing technologies are frequently used to create the tooling for molding processes, such as injection molding, blow molding, and compression molding. This application is referred to as indirect manufacturing, where 3D printing produces the tool rather than the final part itself.
