Additive index
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000232
A number summarising how toxicants act together in a mixture, calculated by summing, for each toxicant, its concentration divided by its own effect concentration, for instance the LC50, with one toxicant serving as the reference. Marking's version gives zero for simple additivity, a positive value when the mixture acts more strongly than the sum of its parts (synergism), and a negative value when it acts more weakly (antagonism).
