Synergism
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011761
A phenomenon where the combined effect of two or more substances or agents is greater than the sum of their individual effects. In chemistry, this can refer to enhanced extraction efficiency in solvent extraction or increased catalytic activity. For instance, two extractants might work together to achieve a higher distribution ratio for a metal ion than either could alone.
